Smith Interviewed about Polygamy by Canadian Media

Linda Smith, a professor of law at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, was recently quoted by the Canadian Press in a story about polygamy.

Smith, who has written about recent high-profile polygamy prosecutions, including the Short Creek raid of 1953, said that such raids are often harmful to children. ““After what happened in Short Creek, the government in Utah became convinced that it wasn't very functional to take children away from their parents to convince their parents to change what is really a social structure,” Smith said.
