Guiora and McCormack Debate Free Speech Protections in Continuum Magazine

McCormack-Wayne

Amos Guiora and Wayne McCormack, professors of law at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, are featured in the Summer issue of Continuum, the Magazine of the University of Utah.

The two debate questions about when it is proper to  limit free speech.  In his recent book Freedom from Religion: Rights and National Security, Guiora proposes that we as a nation should place limits even on religious speech that incites violence. He takes a similar position in the article.  McCormack, by contrast, argues that attempting to target religious speech would promote jidhadist rhetoric, and that existing protections are sufficient.

The article, "From Fiery Rhetoric to Fire in the Theater!",  can be read online here.
