Amos Guiora, Professor of Law at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law and a counter-terrorism expert, was critical of President Obama’s nomination of John Brennan to head the CIA in a recent interview in the Guardian

Brennan has played a key role in the Obama Administration’s policy governing drones and the targeted killing of suspected Islamic militants.  Giuora said he was troubled by the nomination and predicted that the use of unmanned robot planes would increase greatly if he is confirmed.

On February 1, the College of Law will host a symposium titled “The Legal and Ethical Limits of Technological Warfare” focusing on the issues surrounding the use of drones and other technology in armed conflict.  Click here for more information on that all-day event.
