John M. Jex, Class of ’49

John M. Jex, who earned two Purple Hearts in World War II and later served as a planning commissioner in Connecticut, died Tuesday, April 15, after a long illness. He was 89. Jex was born in Spanish Fork and moved with his family to New Canaan, Connecticut, in 1962.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Kay, and four children, John Jex of Vashon, Wash., Jeffrey Jex of Carmel, Ind., Elizabeth Jex of Alexandria, Va., and Janis Guyot of Lawrence, Kan.; and five grandchildren: Megan, Jenny, Katherine, Parker, and John.

A private funeral will be held at a later date.
