Plane was appointed Salt Lake City Attorney in July 2013. Before being appointed City Attorney, Ms. Plane represented the City in general civil litigation and advised the Department of Human Resources. Previously, Ms. Plane served as legal director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Utah, where she litigated civil liberties cases and directed the local organization’s lobbying activities. Ms. Plane chairs an Ethics and Discipline Committee screening panel; serves as co-chair of the Utah Supreme Court Committee on the New Lawyer Training Program; serves in the American Bar Association's House of Delegates; and serves on the ABA's Committee on Professional Discipline. She is a past-president of Women Lawyers of Utah and has been recognized as Mentor of the Year (WLU); Young Lawyer of the Year (YLD); and Fellow of the ABA. After graduating from the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah, Ms. Plane clerked for the Honorable Judge Pamela T. Greenwood on the Utah Court of Appeals.
