Keynote speaker: Marlin K. Jensen, a 1970 graduate of the College of Law, will provide the keynote address at the College’s one-hundredth commencement, to be held May 10 at 10:00 a.m. in Kingsbury Hall. Jensen is currently an attorney at Van Cott, Bagley, Cornwall & McCarthy in the firm’s Tax, Estate and Benefit Planning Group. He also has a long and varied history of community service.  Since 2012, he has been a member of the Utah Board of Regents, where he serves on the Program and Planning Committee, the Resource and Review Team for Salt Lake Community College, and as a non-voting member of the State Board of Education. He has also served as president of the Weber County school board, chair of the Utah State Liquor Control Commission and chair of the Utah State Fair board. From 1989-2012, he served as a member of the Quorum of the Seventy of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and held the position of church historian from 2005 to 2012.

Jensen’s wide range of professional experiences, demonstrated history of service to the community and his faith, and commitment to higher education reflect the College of Law’s aspirations and make him uniquely suited to provide the commencement address as we celebrate the centennial of our very first graduating class, in 1913.
