These four veteran Hollywood insiders track the course of motion picture projects from deal making through development, marketing, and distribution, with an emphasis on related legal and business concerns of intellectual property, talent contracts and negotiations, guild considerations in filmmaking, and other relevant topics.

Bob Rubin, has been in the entertainment industry for over twenty years as an entertainment attorney, deal-maker, studio executive and home entertainment executive. He has served as Executive Vice President at two studios -Universal Pictures and Sony Pictures - where, among other responsibilities, he oversaw all legal and business affairs for production, animation, home entertainment and consumer products. At Universal, he was in charge of development and production for nearly 50 live-action and animated feature-length films, including made for video sequels to such franchises as Beethoven, American Pie, K-9, Slap Shot, Land Before Time, and Bring it On, as well as television series featuring iconic characters Curious George and Woody Woodpecker. At Sony, he established Affirm Films, which developed and acquired faith-based films, including Fireproof, the highest grossing independent film of 2008 in the U.S. ($33.4MM), Soul Surfer (2011; 43.9MM) and Courageous (2011; $34.5MM). Along with Hollywood2go colleague Jeffrey Korchek, Bob taught "The Business of Film" at UCLA Extension for three years, and has served as lecturer or panelist at USC Entertainment Law Symposium, Beverly Hills Bar Entertainment Seminar, UCLA Entertainment Law Symposium, and Showbiz Expo Los Angeles. He is a graduate of the University of Southern California Gould School of Law and the University of Rochester. He is the founder of Hollywood2go, an entertainment seminar and consulting business, and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the world renowned George Eastman House Museum of Photography and Film in Rochester, NY.
Jeffrey A. Korchek, is currently Vice President of Legal and Business Affairs at Mattel, Inc., the world's largest toy company and home to Barbie, Ken, and Hot Wheels. He previously served as senior executive for USA Entertainment, literary agent at Broder Kurland Webb Uffner, and Executive Vice President in Charge of Business and Legal Affairs at Universal Pictures. He began his career as an attorney at Manatt Phelps Rothenberg and Tunney. Mr Korchek is an Adjunct Professor at the Peter Stark program at USC School of Cinematic Arts, where he has taught the first year of business course for 15 years. He received his undergraduate degree in Economics at the University of California, Berkeley, a J.D. from the Law School at the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from the Wharton School.
Julie Spielberg-Senet, Julie has been an entertainment attorney of over 20 years and an executive at motion picture studios, representing a wide array of clients, including individuals, start-ups and production and distribution companies. Julie began her legal career in private practice at Gibson Dunn and Crutcher working in real estate, banking, corporate and entertainment. While as Gibson Dunn she worked on several mergers and acquisitions, and spearheaded the acquisition of the Thorn/EMI library for her client. She subsequently joined the Los Angeles office of Denton Hall Burgin and Warrnes, a London based international firm representing independent producers and distributors, financiers, and a diverse group of production companies and individual artists.
Julie's interest in the entertainment industry led her to Universal Pictures. where she worked on the lot in Studio City for 10 years. As Vice President of Theatrical Legal Affairs, Julie's responsibilities included managing producer term deal arrangements, negotiating complex acquisition and distribution agreements, overseeing profit participation audits and formulating legal policies and practices for the studio in the theatrical animation legal space. During her time at Universal, Julie worked with a wide array of individuals at the studio, collaborating with those in the marketing, merchandising, physical production, and theatrical soundtrack departments.At MGM Pictures Julie worked as Senior Vice-President of Legal and Business Affairs, negotiating production and distribution deals, including high level talent deals and multi party production deals. Julie's career also spanned into business consulting for lighting in the hospitality industry, and convertible stock arrangements in several start up ventures.
After her recent move to Park City, Utah Julie joined the law firm of Van Cott, Bagley, Cornwall and McCarthy on an of counsel basis and recently joined the Sundance Advisory Board. She is also looking forward to teaching an entertainment law class in the Spring as adjunct professor at the S.J. Quinney College of Law, University of Utah, with Roger Armstrong.
Roger L. Armstrong, Mr. Armstrong has been active in the entertainment industry for more than 30 years, first as a studio marketing executive and most recently as a prominent transactional entertainment attorney. Mr. Armstrong has been providing sophisticated legal representation to clients in the entertainment industry for nearly two decades and currently operates his own private law practice. Mr. Armstrong practices transactional law with an emphasis on intellectual property in the motion picture, television, emerging media, publishing and advertising and marketing industries. He has represented clients in substantial transactions with Warner Bros., Univeral Pictures, Sony Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Walt Disney Company, 20th Century Fox, Fox Broadcasting Company, PBS, Discovery Channel, NBC Studios, HBO, Showtime, AMC, and Bravo. Mr. Armstrong represents major cable networks, theatrical motion picture and television producers, animation companies and motion picture and television production companies, along with actors and on-camera hosts, screenwriters, directors and book authors. He has also provided legal advice to television news and magazine programs concerning defamation, rights of publicity and privacy issues. Mr. Armstrong has substantial experience in film finance and had provided legal representation concerning diverse film finance structures. He also negotiates employment agreements for motion picture and television executives. Mr. Armstrong represents major corporations in negotiating sponsorship and endorsement agreements and agreements concerning product integration in motion picture and television productions. He also assist major companies with intellectual property assets that have been licensed for use as the basis of reality television series.
Mr. Armstrong is also a member of the Summit County Council in Summit County, Utah. Mr Armstrong began his legal career as a litigator with the national law firm of Baker & Hostetler and later moved to the national law firm of Manatt Phelps & Phillips, LLP and it substantial entertainment law practice. He was elected to partner at Manatt five years after admission to the California bar and from 2002 to 2004 served as the co-chair of the law firm's Entertainment Practice Group. Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Armstrong was a respected motion picture marketing executive. He served as Vice President of National Publicity for Universal Pictures and in the same capacity for TriStar Pictures. He formulated and implemented publicity campaigns for well of one hundred motion pictures such as JFK, Field of Dreams, Back the Future Parts II and II, Do the Right Thing, Tremors, Hook, Basic Instinct, Sea of Love, Gorillas in the Mist, Bugsy, Parenthood, Backdraft and Blue Velvet.
Mr. Armstrong lives in Park City, Utah, home of the Sundance Film Festival, and Los Angeles California. He serves on the Motion Picture Advisory Committee for the Governor's Office of Economic Development for the State of Utah, which advises GOED concerning tax incentives for motion picture production in Utah. He also serves on the Legislative Affairs committee to the Sundance Advisory Board and on the board of directors for the SLC Film Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and is admitted to practice in California, New York, and Utah.
